Our Services
Our Mission: Dedicated to the compassionate and competent care of your pet, we, at the Broad Ripple Animal Clinic, strive to provide the highest standards of veterinary medicine by quality client relations, preventative health-care and continuing education of our staff. Through your pet, we are able to form friendships that last a lifetime. This is the realization of our ultimate goal.
Broad Ripple Animal Clinic is a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital. We offer preventive health care services as well as advanced diagnostic and surgical services. Take a look below at a sampling of the services we can provide for your special friend.
Acupuncture Veterinary acupuncture is a healing science which deals with the individual animal as a living energetic being, rather than simply as a catalogue of signs and symptoms. Effective veterinary acupuncture practice is based upon both the natural and scientific aspects of healing.
Veterinary acupuncture is a technique for relieving pain and improving the function of various systems of an animal's body via stimulation of the proper reflex points.
Advanced Pain Management We strongly believe that our special friends should never suffer needlessly. In addition to the obvious humane reasons, a pet that is in pain takes longer to heal. We insist on the best and most comprehensive pain management possible for our patients and as such we strive to prevent, recognize, and minimize pain at every level of care.
Anesthesia We use only the highest quality anesthetics available to provide that extra margin of safety. All anesthetized patients are monitored by a Licensed Veterinary Technician from the moment of induction until they are fully recovered. We also monitor each surgery patients heart and respiratory rates, blood pressure, EKG (heart rhythm), body temperature and arterial oxygen levels (using pulse oximeters).
Behavioral Medicine and Counseling Illness doesn't always have a physical cause and the sad truth is that more dogs and cats are put to sleep because of behavioral problems than are put to sleep because of disease and injury. Good behavior can help make your pet safer and more enjoyable, but it takes an effort on your part -- and we can help. Members of our staff are trained animal behaviorists who help determine the cause of disorders such as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen. We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, and aggression. Click here to read about those services.
Blood Transfusion In the event of a medical situation where your pet requires a blood transfusion, we are equipped and ready to provide this important service.
Boarding We maintain a list of local facilities and pet sitters where your pet will be lovingly cared for.
Breeding & Reproduction Services We offer top notch Reproduction Services including breeding soundness exams, semen collection, artificial insemination, surgical artificial insemination, progesterone & L.H. testing, and vaginoscopy.
Bronchoscopy Bronchoscopy is a diagnostic procedure in which a flexible endoscope is inserted through the nose or mouth into the lungs to provide a view of the airways. High tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination of your pet's respiratory tract. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the nasal cavity, trachea and lungs.
Dental Care Dental care is such an important part of a pet's health care. Preventive Care (annual dental exam, proper diet, brushing at home, etc) and Annual Maintenance (thorough cleaning, polishing, and fluoride treatment while pet is under general anesthesia) are needed to assure your pet's mouth and health are in tip top shape. We also provide dental radiographs and oral surgery when needed.
If you have questions regarding your dog or cat's dental health or would like more information about oral care please contact Dr. Dave Lee at d.lee.dvm@bracpet.com or Dr. Sara Rudwell at s.rudwell.dvm@bracpet.com.
Advanced Diagnostics We have a complete in-house laboratory where we routinely perform complete blood counts (CBC), chemistry profiles, fecal parasite checks, urinalysis and a variety of serology procedures. We also utilize commercial and university veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Educational Services We think veterinary medicine is very cool and we love to share details about it with others. We offer Hospital Tours, Grade School Educational Speaking Programs, Pet Club Educational Speaking Programs, and our charity funding Vet For A Day Program. Please let us know if you're interested in any of these programs.
Endoscopy Endoscopy is a wonderful diagnostic tool. Essentially, endoscopic equipment allows us to look inside the body (stomach, esophagus, joints, colon, ear canal, throat, etc). We utilize video endoscopy, where the procedure is projected onto a video screen, for a variety of reasons, but most commonly to check the esophagus and stomach for obstructions, to search for the cause(s) of chronic vomiting or diarrhea, and to study the ear canal to document and treat infections and other problems. Often, we will perform biopsies using endoscopic equipment and can even perform some surgery. The main advantages of endoscopy are:
- Allows veterinarian to look inside body cavities to search for diseases.
- Allows for minimally invasive procedures resulting in quicker recoveries.
- Better diagnostics equals better treatments equals better health.
Geriatric Care Just like people, pets need more frequent attention as they get older to prevent and treat illnesses associated with old age. We will recommend the best protocols to help your friend enjoy his golden years with you. Click here to read about Aging and Your Pet.
Immunization and Wellness Care Preventive care is the easiest and most effective way to keep your friend healthy and happy. A complete annual physical exam is the cornerstone of great pet care, and immunizations offer important protection against common and sometimes deadly diseases. Our doctors don't follow a 'one size fits all' protocol for preventive health care, but rather treat each patient as an individual and recommend the best possible protocols for that particular pet.
Massage Therapy (Canine) Massage, and the use of touch for health and wellness, is a universally developed and recognized healing technique. Touch elicits change within a body. It is an ancient powerful gift you bring to your animal. Massage is about change within the muscle tissues, not about ‘fixing a problem’. Because of the health promoting qualities of massage, it is recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) as a great alternative therapy for animals. Massage is a non-invasive technique using the hands to manipulate muscle tissue. It can be defined as any systemic form of touch which has been found to give comfort and promote good health. Relaxation, relief from excitability or pain can all be achieved through the application of different massage techniques.
Microchipping One of the most important things you can do to protect your pet is to assure it's identification. A frightening number of pets enter the animal shelter system each year simply due to the fact that animal control has no means by which to return a pet to it's loving home. Collars and external tags are helpful, and should be used, but can fall off (or be taken off). Microchips are a permanent form of identification. A small chip the size of a grain of rice is implanted under your pets skin in the same manner as giving a vaccine. The chip contains information about your pet and can be read using a special scanner. We will supply you with the means to register your pet's microchip information with a national database. Most veterinary hospitals and animal control agencies have these special scanners and will use them to attempt to identify stray pets. We use Avid ResQ microchips.
Nutritional & Dietary Counseling A good diet is important to your pet at every stage of it's life. We can help you determine what type of diet your pet needs - whether he's growing, needing to lose weight, or fighting a particular illness. For your convenience, we carry a large assortment of high quality pet foods.
Complete Pharmacy and Pet Care Products For your convenience, we maintain a fully stocked pharmacy so that we can fill your prescriptions while you're in the office. We also stock an assortment of pet care products including shampoos, household odor control products, home care dental products, pet treats, collars, leashes and cat nip toys!
Radiology Our on-site, modern radiology (X-Ray) equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. We also are fortunate to have the services of a Board Certified Radiologist on staff to help assure the proper interpretation of this diagnostic tool. Radiology services include myelograms, arthrograms, and ultrasounds.
Surgical Services We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: experienced veterinary surgeons, fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques; ECG and oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery care and full blood testing.
Ultrasound Diagnostics This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. |
